Summer Movie Picks: The Jungle Book, Finding Dory, The BFG

13th Jun 2016

Summer is here, and we have more time to do fun things with our kids! A perfect activity for hot summer days and evenings is watching an enjoyable movie in a cool theater. This summer promises us some wonderful and entertaining movies to enjoy with our families, including the new Jungle Book, Finding Dory and The BFG.

The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book stories were written back in 1894. Originally, they were a collection of stories written by Rudyard Kipling who was inspired to start writing for children after he had a child of his own. His first stories appeared in magazines, and take place in the Indian jungle. The main character is an abandonded boy being raised by wolves. Some of the animal characters are Mowgli's friends and some are his enemies.

In the new movie by Jon Favreau, Bill Murray is the voice of Baloo the bear, and other celebrities are the voices of such beloved characters as Bagheera the panther and Sherekhan the tiger. The last best-known movie of Jungle book was made by Disney back in 1967, so now we can share the beloved tales with our kids in this modern remake.

The Jungle Book teaches us to not be cowards, to help others and to live a simple life. It also teaches un not to be jealous and to think smart.

The release date for The Jungle Book movie was Arpil 15, 2016.

Finding Dory

Finding Dory is the much anticipated Disney/Pixar animated film sequel to Finding Nemo. If you want to either build anticipation for the movie or keep the fun story going after you have seen it, you can find the story in book form.

Finding Dory is the story of the friendly blue tang fish we met in Finding Nemo who reunites with loved ones. Ellen Degeneres stars as one of the voices in the new sure-to-be new classic. Diane Keaton is the voice of Dory's mother, and the film is packed with other stars from both the large and small screens.

We have waited thirteen years for this follow up to Finding Nemo, and just like the first film, this one also has many lessons it hopes to teach audience members. The true meaning of family is a great take away from this one. Ellen Degenerres also hopes that audiences learn that fish belong in the oceans and should not be pets. The film shows that caring for our environment is a very important thing!

The release date for Finding Dory movie is June 17, 2016.

The BFG

The BFG, The Big Friendly Giant, is based on the 2007 novel by Ronald Dahl. Ronald Dahl wrote such beloved classics as James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and definitely knows to draw us into his elaborate tales! This story is said to be Ronald Dahl's favorite. It is about a giant, but he's not an ordinary one! He is nice! Sopie, the little girl in the story, is captured by him , and she and the BFG decide to stop the not-so-nice giants who are heading to England to capture more children.

The BFG fantasy adventure movie is coproduced by Steven Speilberg and promises to be a great one! The story uses a lot of made up words and follows themes of friendship, dreams and believing. The BFG can catch and create dreams, and he uses his skills to make good things happen. Sophe is very brave and finds that facing one's fears can change lives. The Big Friendly Giant models compassion and is dedicated to making children happy.

The release date for The BFG movie is July 1, 2016.
